PRACTICE FOCUS

Restructuring and insolvency

EXPERIENCE AND CREDENTIALS

Jimmy has over 20 years of experience in financial restructuring and insolvency work with KPMG in Malaysia. Administration of restructuring and insolvency work requires multidisciplinary skills and the ability to manage conflicts among different stakeholders, which Jimmy was accustomed to.

He led the establishment of a restructuring practice in Jakarta before retiring as a KPMG Singapore & Indonesia partner in 2017.

Jimmy’s current focus is advising clients on restructuring and insolvency, a role he excels in. His unique blend of financial and operational experience gained during his tenure at KPMG and his background as an accountant add significant value to his current legal work. His clients, who trust his expertise and experience, have recognised this value-add.

Jimmy’s commitment to sharing his knowledge and insights on restructuring and insolvency is evident through his regular talks and seminars. His contributions to the field extend beyond these engagements, as he was a contributing writer of the book – Law and Practice of Corporate Insolvency in Malaysia and the co-editor of the book – Restructuring and Insolvency: A Commentary. These publications stand as a testament to his deep understanding and expertise in the field, inspiring others in the industry.

He was appointed to the board of Lonpac Insurance Bhd on 1 August 2019 as an independent non-executive director. He currently serves on the audit, risk sustainability, and governance committees.
